New site includes community powered news, video, enhanced photo management, and professional networking tools

NEW YORK, NY -- Community Connect, the leader in online community and social networking destinations for US ethnic groups, upgraded MiGente.com, the largest US web site dedicated to serving the needs of Latinos, onto its new social networking technology platform C9.

The new site gives the 2.3 million registered MiGente.com members a new look and feel and also several new features including: community powered news, instant messaging, video, enhanced photo management and professional networking.  These new features provide members new ways to express themselves and meet new friends within their community.

"We significantly upgraded both our technology platform and our user experience," said Ben Sun, CEO, Community Connect. "This product provides our members with the state of the art in online social networking and community experience."

This product also builds on Community Connect’s nine years of experience in social networking and creates a significant advantage in executing its niche social networking strategy.

“The C9 technology provides us with a modular and highly extensible platform that enables Community Connect to rapidly launch new niche social networks in less than 14 days” said Mike Montero, CTO.

Initial member reaction to the launch has been positive. “I’m loving it! God bless & Good Luck!” say’s MiGente.com member Mami81. Commenting on the new community powered news and video sections, member blulapidus said, “The news and video clips that are voted on by the community have a true Latino voice.”

MiGente.com offers Latinos, who share a similar bi-cultural experience, a space in which they can express themselves, meet one another and mobilize their community at large.

Community Connect re-launched AsianAvenue.com in November 2005 and plans to release this new platform to BlackPlanet.com in June 2006.
