|
Targeting the country's robust African American multicultural population, BlackPlanet.com is named the fourth most visited social networking website overall according to Hitwise and named part of the AlwaysOn Media 100 list New York, New York January 28, 2008 – African American social networking site BlackPlanet.com, part of the Community Connect Inc. family of niche social networking sites, has been named the fourth largest social networking site in 2007. According to Hitwise, the leading online competitive intelligence service, BlackPlanet.com ranked after MySpace, Facebook and Bebo. It is the only site targeting a multicultural community in the top 10. Historically, the full potential of online engagement with the African American community has been under realized, noted Kay Madati, VP of marketing at Community Connect Inc. We're thrilled with the results of the Hitwise study, which serve to validate what our audience and current partners have known for almost a decade -- BlackPlanet.com is the platform of choice for African American consumers who seek a culturally relevant social network that allows them to connect with their friends, family and peers via a variety of community tools, information, entertainment and personal services. All the while, Blackplanet.com has continued to climb the ranks of Hitwise's chart, generating increased growth in all traffic and audience retention measures. And with Presidential candidates like Barack Obama, and brands/partners like Wal*Mart, Coca Cola, Heineken, Black Enterprise and VIBE all taking notice, our online community has become a valued source for authentic and relevant opinions on issues in the African American space, continued Madati. With over 18 million members, average 2007 monthly page views of 400 MM, and average 2007 monthly unique visits of 4 MM, it's no wonder that BlackPlanet.com is a leader in engaging the African American space in the evolving online media environment. As social networking is increasingly becoming an important part of our society, and consumers are finding comfort and joy in technology facilitated online connections, it is clear that Blackplanet.com is well positioned to continue being a resource to its members and the brand/companies that seek to engage them. This fact cannot be more truly emphasized than with the current fanfare over Presidential Primaries. Barack Obama was the first Democratic candidate to launch his profile on Blackplanet.com, and since its launch in early October, his profile page has reached more people than his friends on MySpace and Facebook. To date Obama has over 430,000 friends on BlackPlanet.com, highlighting the active interest and immersion of the online African American community, and serving once again to validate Hitwise's findings. Additionally, Community Connect Inc. is thrilled to announce that The AlwaysOn Network has named them part of the AlwaysOn Media 100 list. This exclusive list of private companies awards those who have excelled in areas of criteria-innovation, market potential, commercialization, stakeholder value creation, and media-buzz. ### ABOUT COMMUNITY CONNECT INC.: |
