Job Description

The Online Marketing Manager of Retention is responsible for retaining members who join social networking sites BlackPlanet.com, MiGente.com, GLEE.com or AsianAvenue.com. This person should have sound understating of email marketing. Additionally, they should have some exposure to optimizing user experience and will have full ownership over our retention programs and an opportunity to directly link your effort to improved business results.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Strategy
    • Assist in development of the retention strategy for all Community Connect brands. Your recommendations will be presented to the COO and CEO
    • Understand customer needs. Identify key drivers of retention. Design campaigns to support business goals. Track and measure results, refine and optimize to meet business objectives
  • Application Development
    • Lead the Marketing application development team to introduce improvements to site experience, or to optimize all automated alerts, with the goal of maximizing retention and driving members to engage with the site
  • Execution
    • Prepare all appropriate documentation to manage retention-marketing campaigns, including test matrices, projected conversion rates, or number of messages to be sent

    • Manage a creative team in the development of targeting, media and creative strategies, the production of creative materials, and the day to day management of multiple retention programs
    • Support development and maintenance of acquisition and promotions marketing budget

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven track-record of being able to understand the needs of customers and translating that into new product releases
  • Proven leader with top-notch analytical and communication skills
  • Strong technical understanding of Internet technologies and the operations of a commercial Web site
  • Knowledge of "community" space
  • Must be self motivated, have good interpersonal skills, be adaptable and able to juggle multiple priorities
  • Hands on knowledge of online community / online services marketing
  • Knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Education Requirement:

  • BA/BS Degree
Minimum Experience Requirement:
  • Additionally, 3+ years of marketing experience, specifically including experience with email marketing
  • Solid organizational, analytical, and project coordination skills
  • Ability to handle a variety of tasks quickly, efficiently, and with a minimum amount of rework
  • Sound email marketing understanding, including how to set up tests and track results
  • Strong editing skills, with good command of grammar, punctuation, and some writing basics; attention to detail a must
  • Ability to think strategically ("big picture"), but a willingness to "roll up your sleeves" and work through the tactics to ensure successful marketing plan execution
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, high energy, and enthusiasm for a fast-paced environment
  • Cooperative and able to work well in a team, but also able to accomplish tasks and projects independently
  • Ability to multi-task and work on multiple complex tasks that come together under one deadline
