JOB PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE

The Manager of the Front End Web Development team will provide technical leadership, coaching and vision to a team of front-end programmers. He/She will work closely with other departments and leaders to streamline the workflow and standardize the front-end development process. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth experience managing the creation, delivery and maintenance of large scale consumer websites in a fast paced, environment. Must be "hands on" with current technology including being aware of emerging trends in Internet technology.

RESPONSIBLITIES:
  • Create, lead and rollout the front-end web strategy: technology, frameworks, and training to streamline the front-end workflow and make it more efficient
  • Lead from the front with experience and knowledge of front-end technology, techniques, and/or approaches to make the front-end team more efficient
  • Plan and finalize the guidelines to standardize the workflow of deliverables from front-end teams to backend engineering teams
  • Research emerging technologies in interactive web design, providing recommendations for application to existing products and initiating new programs
  • Effectively manage, coach, develop, and motivate a talented team of front-end programmers. Mentor and develop team members' technical and non-technical skill sets
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills and work with other managers and business to prioritize, plan, schedule, allocate resources and balance multiple development projects
  • Align with other departments to implement key front-end development initiatives
  • Participate in the development of strategy plan, policies and procedures. Facilitate team compliance to practices of agile software development

QUALIFICATION & SKILLS:

Required:

  • 7+ years as a front-end web developer for high-traffic web sites
  • Expertise with front-end technologies like CSS, DHTML, Javascript, AJAX, Flash
  • Strong experience leading and participating in all phases of front-end web development
  • Passion for learning and testing new Web 2.0 frameworks and technologies
  • Ability to work in highly collaborative environment. Strong team player
  • 2 + years leading, managing and motivating web front-end teams
  • Knowledge of browser compatibility issues when using JavaScript and CSS
  • Intimate knowledge of current web standards, and the ability to cut up graphics and work with complex CSS to design and implement content/structure layouts
  • Eager to learn and implement new technologies. Be enthusiastic about the possibilities of AJAX

Preferred:

  • Server side scripting languages (PHP, Perl, or equivalent)
  • Experience and understanding with AJAX methodologies is desirable
  • Flash & Actionscript
  • XML and XSLT
