Job Description

The Director of Product Management & Strategy is responsible for leading the strategy for all of our products and services across our market leading sites: AsianAvenue.com, BlackPlanet.com and MiGente.com. This person will be responsible for managing a team of three product managers who manage our products that include web personals, online recruiting services, online community tools and interactive advertising services that are deployed across our sites. This person will be responsible for defining a wining and differentiated product strategy in collaboration with the team and then implementing that strategy. This person will also have responsibility for defining and negotiating strategic technology partnerships that will augment CCI's product offering.

The Director of Product Management & Strategy will be responsible for establishing the vision and roadmap for all of our sites. This person will work closely with the CEO and COO in establishing plans and communicating them to the team and the rest of the company. This person will be measure around three main goals:

  • Business objectives – does product deliver improved performance as projected by the your team?
  • Financial objectives – does improved performance deliver increased revenue as projected by your team?
  • Staff management objective – are you providing product managers with the appropriate coaching and support to meet their needs. Are you providing the proper management and leadership to your staff to have them perform at their full potential

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Being able to work closely with the other department heads including: VP of Development, Director of User Experience & Design and Director of Production to manage the proper process and documentation between those in Product Management and those in development
  • Monitoring management standards and process in areas such as market analysis, quantitative analysis, product strategy, product planning and program strategy
  • Managing a team of Product Managers, giving them the coaching and guidance they need to best serve the needs of the business leads that they work with
  • Regularly monitor the performance and trends of our products and report them to the Executive Management team.
  • Report on the success of the projects that the Product Managers initiated
  • Understand and evangelize the needs of the members of our community
  • Insightful understanding of the marketplace and competitors
  • Work closely with Business leads to help identify long-term needs and positioning
  • Writing quarterly plans including details on strategy, operations, resource management and budget
  • " Work with internal businesses and external businesses to develop content, services, tools, sales and marketing partnerships
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned


QUALIFICATION & SKILLS:

  • Proven track-record of being able to understand the needs of customers and translating that into new product releases
  • Demonstrated 3+ years of strong management skills including managing staff, writing plans and managing a budget
  • Proven leader with top-notch analytical and communication skills
  • Strong technical understanding of Internet technologies and the operations of a commercial Web site
  • Knowledge of "community" space
  • " Must be self motivated, have good interpersonal skills, be adaptable and able to juggle multiple priorities
  • Hands on knowledge of online community / online services marketing
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Education Requirement:
  • BA/BS Degree

Preferred Education Requirement:

  • MBA

Minimum Experience Requirement:

  • 8+ years of Product Management experience at a Consumer Internet or software company
  • Proven experience in managing a team of Product Managers
  • History of Web site traffic and member experience analysis
